The hunt for the ultimate Melbourne CBD eggs benedict: Cafe Segovia

The hunt last week brought us to Cafe Segovia.  One of those cafes hidden down one of Melbourne's blink-and-you'll-miss-it laneways.

Location: Cafe Segovia
33 Block Pl, Melbourne

Huge Nutella jars on the shelf.  Always a good sign.

Base: English muffins!  Yyyyyaaaaayyyyy!
Eggs:  Delish.  Slight vinegar from the
Sauce: Really good.  Great yellow colour.  Lemony tang.  Creamy.  Not enough though!!
Ham:  Eggs Benny on the menu came in Atlantic, Florentine or Bacon!  What?  Lil sis got a custom order with ham, but I stayed with the menu.  The bacon was REALLY GOOD.  Like, all smokey and juicy all at once.  MMMMM bacon.  The ham looked quite good too, a generous amount of shaved ham, grilled too!
Price: $16.50
Coffee:  ok, but nothing special.  Especially considering it took its freaking time to get to us and the barista looked like one of those fancy pants hipsters who knows what he's doing.
Service:  Quite good.  The waiter got us a booth, and booths always get an extra tick!!

Tanya:  8/10
By far, the best eggs benny we have had yet.  The sauce was the highlight for me, just packed with flavour, and very fresh tasting!  I really liked the bacon for a change, I know it's not 'traditional', but god damn was it tasty!
Lil sis:  8.5/10
I rather enjoyed today’s Eggs Benny, so far they have been the most delectable and gratifying. They were on a standard English muffin, the ham was flavorsome and the eggs were nice and runny. Hollandaise was pretty sweet but I wanted more!

And how does that look on the benedict-o-meter?
I actually don't have an 8.25 benedict, so let's round it up!
Make sure you check out my map to see the other eggs benny locations lil sis and I have checked out.
